Our client is a well-established shipping and logistics firm with a strong presence in the dry bulk market. Known for their agile operations and commercial expertise, they manage a growing fleet and serve a global customer base across key trade routes. They are looking for a Chartering Manager to join their dynamic team—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong market knowledge, and can drive profitable cargo fixtures while building lasting relationships with clients and brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor & Analyse market conditions, freight rates, develop and implement chartering strategies.
• Identify chartering opportunities for dry bulk vessels.
• Develop and implement chartering strategies to optimize fleet utilization and maximize profitability.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, brokers, charterers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.
• Negotiate charter agreements and contracts with ship owners, brokers, and clients to secure favorable terms.
• Good knowledge of market trends, tonnage and charter rates to optimise chartering opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.
• Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution of chartered voyages and address any issues that arise.
• Conduct performance review of chartered vessels and its economics.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with chartering activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Prepare regular reports on chartering activities, market conditions, and performance metrics for senior management.
• Lead and mentor junior chartering staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in ship chartering, particularly in the dry bulk market.
• Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of securing profitable charters.
• In-depth knowledge of market trends, freight rates, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of dry bulk markets, shipping logistics, and chartering agreements.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in market analysis and financial assessment to make informed decisions.
• Familiarity with chartering software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong leadership qualities, strategic mindset, and a results-driven approach.
