Chartering Manager (Dry Bulk)

Our client is a well-established shipping and logistics firm with a strong presence in the dry bulk market. Known for their agile operations and commercial expertise, they manage a growing fleet and serve a global customer base across key trade routes. They are looking for a Chartering Manager to join their dynamic team—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong market knowledge, and can drive profitable cargo fixtures while building lasting relationships with clients and brokers.


Key Responsibilities:

•⁠  ⁠Monitor & Analyse market conditions, freight rates, develop and implement chartering strategies.

•⁠  ⁠Identify chartering opportunities for dry bulk vessels.

•⁠  ⁠Develop and implement chartering strategies to optimize fleet utilization and maximize profitability.

•⁠  ⁠Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, brokers, charterers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.

•⁠  ⁠Negotiate charter agreements and contracts with ship owners, brokers, and clients to secure favorable terms.

•⁠  ⁠Good knowledge of market trends, tonnage and charter rates to optimise chartering opportunities.

•⁠  ⁠Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.

•⁠  ⁠Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution of chartered voyages and address any issues that arise.

•⁠  ⁠Conduct performance review of chartered vessels and its economics.

•⁠  ⁠Assess and mitigate risks associated with chartering activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

•⁠  ⁠Prepare regular reports on chartering activities, market conditions, and performance metrics for senior management.

•⁠  ⁠Lead and mentor junior chartering staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.


Job Requirements:

•⁠  ⁠Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.

•⁠  ⁠Minimum of 3 years of experience in ship chartering, particularly in the dry bulk market.

•⁠  ⁠Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of securing profitable charters.

•⁠  ⁠In-depth knowledge of market trends, freight rates, and regulatory requirements.

•⁠  ⁠Strong understanding of dry bulk markets, shipping logistics, and chartering agreements.

•⁠  ⁠Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

•⁠  ⁠Proficient in market analysis and financial assessment to make informed decisions.

•⁠  ⁠Familiarity with chartering software and MS Office Suite.

•⁠  ⁠Strong leadership qualities, strategic mindset, and a results-driven approach.
